Why crackers belong to Deepavali
In the South the day starts before sunrise with the oil bath and the first garland of crackers at the doorway, and it closes after dark with the fountains and the sky items. That is two separate buying lists in one order, and it is why families run out of the quiet items long before the loud ones.

Sunday 8 November 2026. Order at least a week earlier than you think you need to, because road transport slows right down in the final week of the season.
What time can I burst crackers on Deepavali?
Karnataka follows the two-hour evening window, normally 8:00 to 10:00 PM, and permits certified green crackers only. The timings are reissued every year and can differ by district, so confirm the current notification. Bengaluru apartment associations often add their own rule on top.
How much should a family spend?
